Is there anything i can do to completely stop getting migraines?

I've had migraines severly since i was about 9 years old. I am now 22, and they are starting to ruin my life it seems. They prevent me from going out with my friends, because i'm stuck at home throwing up from them. I can't even make it to work sometimes. I get them at least once to three times every 2 months. The only medications that help any are Maxalt, Flexaril, or Vicodin. Is there ANYTHING at all i can do to get rid of them forever?
