Why have I had a chest infection for 3 weeks and it doesnt go away?

I'm on Clarythromycin for it, I cough up phlegm and sometimes blood. Today after my food I coughed as normal and a load of phlegm came out with the cough in my hand, it was disgusting. Sometimes when I get a coughing fit it is from so deep in my chest that I see stars!
