Can fervor in a religion/cult manifest as somewhat similar to the effects of schizophrenia?

This makes sense and it is true. I thought about this before as well. To be honest it is hard to say. When a person strongly believes in something he tricks his mental state and makes himself to think that it is the fact. In this case he could be almost a schizophrenic. Also, there is no precise way to diagnose schizophrenia it is always an approximation when a doctor diagnoses "schizophrenia".
